Freelance director, creative dreamer, technical guru, and lover of the 7th art, Olivier Chagnon is an expert in video production and commercials.
From a very young age, Olivier Chagnon became interested in the world of cinema. Cinema has always been his passion. His interest in visual arts and writing emerged when he was barely ten years old, thanks to his lifelong idol, Mr. Steven Spielberg. The creative and technical aspects of cinema were elements that interested him from the very beginning of his career. This passion grew with the realization of short films at the age of 14 and his first feature film at the age of 15. His mind was already made up: to pursue a career in filmmaking.
He then decided to further his knowledge by enrolling in the Cinema concentration program at Cégep St-Laurent. Even before classes began, he decided to enhance his knowledge of cinema techniques and embarked on various personal research projects to master all technical aspects of filmmaking. To complete the portfolio required for admission to the school, he directed another short film, which won the "Best Short Film" award in the optional visual arts program at Mont-Bruno High School in 2000. His college studies not only taught him his craft but also allowed him to make numerous contacts in the Quebec film industry, leading him to establish his own production company in 2007: Cinetix Films Inc. Since then, he has produced a multitude of videos of all kinds: corporate videos, commercials, wedding videos, music videos, and special events. He has also produced internet advertising videos and training videos.
His desire to continue his career as a film director led him to write, direct, and produce the film "Kung-Fu Express" in 2007 with a budget of less than $25,000. But it was in 2008 that his career took a 90-degree turn; he met Marcel Maroist, author, host, and producer of television shows, training DVDs, and films. Since August 2008, he has been working closely with Mr. Maroist, who is based in Los Angeles, to participate in the realization of various projects such as: training DVDs with Hollywood stars, television shows for broadcast in Quebec and abroad, as well as various medium and large-budget films.
Olivier has since obtained a Bachelor's degree in Cinema from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, Concordia University, in Montreal. His desire for a better cultural and historical understanding of cinema, while appreciating the theoretical aspect behind cinematography, led him back to school while continuing to manage his company and produce videos. His company has grown to become a production house offering photography and video production services. He considers himself lucky to have a team of professionals working with him at the company. The entire team has a passion for visual arts and delivers their best work to clients.
